Threads are listed in reverse chronological order. Rows highlighted like this are newly added threads started in the previous AC month but only reached an impactful point this month. Dates are in OOC dates because it's just easier that way for me.

July
07/21 His eyes, already wide with wonder only got wider and he could faintly remember the first time he stepped foot into Florence and its beautifully ornate architecture and graceful arches, the way Cyrus said, 'Mahmut Pasha, stop looking like that or people are going to think you're a bumpkin'.

Elizabeth takes Mahmut to Battleship Bay and he is...completely blown away.
07/21 There was something here. A village had been here fourteen years ago.

Home for Mahmut is a patch of barren ground where his tribe is buried. Eliot is kind enough to not push and they look for rabbits instead.
07/21 His expression is pained before he manages something a little closer to neutral because the last impression he has of his hometown was fire and blood and corpses, and now that he has a chance to describe it, to actually control the narrative he finds that that is not what he wants it to be remembered for.

Getting to talk about his hometown is...actually kind of helpful. Who knew?

DESCRIPTION
07/10 Then I won't refuse. That is, as long as you will take one as well.

Using negotiation skills to help people feel better.
07/10 "Sky..." He repeats to himself and stares up at the. Well. The sky here wasn't much though it looked quite pleasant at night. "The late director would have liked that, I think."

A meeting with a new companion reminds Mahmut of an old one.
June
06/17 He said, 'for better or for worse' but there's definitely a sense that he feels he hadn't taken the best path in doing what he did

Mahmut is good at war...and he's never sure what to feel about that.
06/11 What I have learned since then, is that there is no such thing as an experience that is frivolous. And I think this could be a good chance to try something new for both of us.

Mahmut convinces Gladion to give the part a try.
06/10 It certainly seems that way. It was hard enough to get people to agree where I came from and we were only from different countries not worlds. And yet...look at all of this.

DESCRIPTION
06/05 Doing this made him feel a pang of homesickness. Not just because he's been away from home since he came here, but also because he had been away from these things since he left for the war.

Zelda and Mahmut go shear some sheep which is a familiar enough activity...the part where the sheep are invisible is new but otherwise? It's almost like a bit of home.
06/05 They may be stuck here and the situation is awful but at least they could rely on each other.

Iskender suddenly wants nothing to do with him but at least Gladion can be relied on to make sure all the animals living in this house will be fed.
06/03 I hope not. I don't think our army could afford lose anymore of its fighting force.

But I do wish I had his expertise. There are many things I simply do not know enough about.

Homesickness is such a terribly selfish thing, isn't it?
May
05/28 He was...bad at offering reassurance. He thought, Halil Pasha would know what to say and though Mahmut tried to imagine what kind words his foster father would offer in this situation Mahmut could only draw a blank.

All he knew how to do was offer advice, worthless as it may be. Without pity but not unkind at the same time. Just quiet and honest.

Mahmut sucks at giving comfort but he tries anyway.
05/16 Mahmut had just been putting up with the chill, more interested in figuring out everything else since it was more important than his own health. But here was another person and he couldn't very well ignore him as well.

Bad habits die hard. And Mahmut will always be a statesman first and a person second.
05/16 Mahmut pressed a hand to his face with a huge sigh. He could be calm about this. He wasn't going to lose his composure. He just had to take things one step at a time, isolate what was actually important to find out and everything else can be ignored until a later time.

Honestly? Everything about Kirishima stresses him out.
05/16 It wasn't getting home but since that question was currently too overwhelming to process and it seemed as if some people had been hear for far longer and have yet to figure out how to return. So...small goals. Things that needed to be done now and finding a place to keep his horse had been one of those.

He's just going to take things one at a time.
05/16 It was just as well that Damian didn't ask, really. Mahmut wouldn't even know how to start talking about it. After all, the massacre of his village had been a well known event it had been made into a play. There was no one who saw Iskender on his shoulder and his distinctive gold hair and didn't automatically know what happened.

Mahmut would rather talk forever about the application of wires than his past.
